B-Movie Gazette Skinny
Mountain Men is a movie that straddles the line (more than several times in fact) between comedy and drama or more specifically, outdoor survival adventure. Deciding if it wants to be one or the other seems to have been a major complaint with movie fans but I found the balance of the two spot-on. Somehow they make me care for these characters and even though the brother reconciliation thing has been put out in a million flavors past, I enjoyed the way they tied the whole lesson-learned aspect together, nice and subtle. All in all I was pleasantly surprised with this one, my first time seeing Tyler Labine, a charismatic actor with hopefully many more great performances to come. both leads are great. If you enjoy Canadian films as much as I generally do, you’ll dig this!
